WHY IS GREEN TEA GREAT FOR YOUR HAIR?
What is green tea?
Green tea is a type of tea that is made from Camellia sinensis leaves that have not undergone the same withering and oxidation process used to make oolong teas and black teas. The goodness of green tea has been accepted the world over for its health benefits for 1000 of years. Green tea offers various benefits! Some of the most important benefits is heart health, weight loss, and prevention of serious sicknesses like cancer and diabetes.
What about your hair?
One of the main benefits of drinking green tea is the antioxidant “EGCG” (epigallocatechin gallate). This antioxidant has the ability to stimulate hair growth in both men and women. The caffeine in the tea also acts to reduce hair loss by blocking dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a byproduct of testosterone that hinders the hair follicles from producing hair. Inflamed and irritated scalps can slow growth and green tea helps to counteract poor scalp conditions that cause hair loss. Green tea contains polyphenols and vitamins E and C, which soften the hair. This tea helps to close the cuticles of porous hair to create a healthier and shinier mane.
